In my second week of teaching, I started the class asking some questions such as - how was your last week, have you share your lessons with others, etc. Then I begin with my PowerPoint presentation. First, we have had highlights from our last class. This helps in revising the whole lessons once again. I personally believe that the only way to excel in academics is that you should revise your lessons periodically.

Initiation of lesson

I started the lesson by telling them about the simple model of 5WH of the communication process. I've introduced a big concept slide to them where we forth discussed how effective communication is the seamless blend of both verbal and non-verbal aspects of communication. The big concept slide is followed by the types of communication and later component of communication.

I also discussed the three variants of communication which are - intrapersonal, interpersonal and group communication. With friendly instances, the kids comprehended the meaning of the above-mentioned.

Extempore - the elephant in the room

After all, that comes the time when I mentioned the elephant in the room. I mean, the introduction of the practical topic. Extempore, in simpler meaning, means speaking or giving your views on some topics then & there spontaneously. I tried to make them familiar with the extempore first. The kids are very creative but hesitant in speaking in front of the class. Quite a familiar situation among us. We discussed in the class the tricks and methods while giving extempore.

On Sunday, the children were enthusiastic and filled with energy. They wrote two topics in the paper chit and every participant then picked up the chit and delivered their extempore monologue. The objective of why we have had this practice is that the human brain becomes stagnant when somebody asks you a question or where the conditions become unfavorable and uncertain. Practicing extempore regulates the momentum of the velocity of information keep flowing within our mind when such incidents arise.

They were little hesitant; lacking confidence but the start was good. Soon, you'll get to know their feedbacks. First, let us know your suggestions/ideas/views on our collective endeavor. After that, through me and this blog, the kids will be interacting with you.

Please comment and share with the one you care about! :)
